BROADLANDS ESTATE | HAMPSHIRE
Broadlands is an important historic country estate, once the home of Earl Mountbatten, The last Viceroy of India, and honeymoon location of Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip. The landscape was created by Capability Brown with later Nesfield influence.
We were commissioned by Lord and Lady Brabourne in the first instance to draw up and implement a management programme for the revival of the landscape. Having successfully achieved this, designs were created for the formal walled gardens and immediate areas around the house.
The gardens were to be completed in time for a royal visit by Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip, in honour of the 400th anniversary of the granting of the Royal Charter of Romsey.
We were careful to maintain and preserve the underlying, historic landscape, whilst offering new ideas to suit the desires of the current custodians.
"Since commissioning Taylor Tripp, we have been delighted with the transformation. The gardens are no longer a worry but a pleasure."
